Your full-day tour begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel or other meeting point of your choice in Athens. Your experienced driver will welcome you to a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, and you will begin your journey to Sparta, crossing the Peloponnese.
Journey to Sparta
The journey from Athens to Sparta takes approximately 2.5 hours, as you travel through the imposing landscapes of the Peloponnese.
First Stop: Archaeological Site of Sparta
The first stop of the tour is the archaeological site of Sparta. Here you will visit the ruins of the ancient city that was one of the most powerful city-states of ancient Greece. You will see the temple of Athena Chalkioikos, the remains of the ancient theaters and the remaining walls of the city. Your experienced driver will inform you about the history of Sparta, its social structure and its importance in ancient Greece.
Archaeological Museum of Sparta
After visiting the archaeological site, you can visit the Archaeological Museum of Sparta, where important finds from the ancient city are exhibited. In the museum you will see statues, ceramics and other objects that reveal the daily life and worship of the Spartans.
Journey to Mystras
After exploring Sparta, you will head to Mystras, a medieval city located nearby. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes and offers you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the area.
Visit to the Byzantine State of Mystras
Mystras is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Greece. Here you will tour the ruins of the medieval city, which includes monasteries, churches and the famous castle. Mystras was the last bastion of the Byzantine Empire and the center of culture and art during its time. You can visit the church of Agia Sophia, the Palace of the Despots and the monastery of Pantanassa.
Lunch and Relaxation in Mystras
After your visit to the archaeological site, you can enjoy a meal at one of the traditional taverns of Mystras, tasting local delicacies and resting before your return to Athens.
Return to Meeting Point
After your visit to Mystras is complete, your driver will transfer you back to the meeting point or your hotel in Athens. The return trip takes approximately 2.5 hours, giving you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the return journey.
