Your full-day tour begins with a pickup from your hotel or another meeting point of your choice early in the morning. Your driver will greet you with a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, and you’ll start your journey towards your first stop, Isthmus of Corinth. There you will have the chance to watch the ships go by the canal and take panoramic pictures of the beautiful canal view!
The tour continues and your next stop is at the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, where there are remains of an important Roman city, with temples, fountains, theaters & an archaeology museum.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth, located in the archaeological site of ancient Corinth, was built in 1932 by the American School of Classical Studies that conducted excavations in the area. The renovated building familiarizes the visitor with one of the most important ancient Greek cities. It exhibits prehistoric collections, finds from the Asklepion, and artifacts from the Geometric times until the Byzantine period. Τhe Τwin Kouroi from ancient Tenea, an exquisite sample of archaic plastic art, recently became part of the exhibition.
The following stop of the tour is Mycenae, the historic city of ancient Greece that was the center of Mycenaean civilization and is closely associated with the Homeric cycle and the Trojan War. You will visit the archaeological site, where you’ll see the Lion Gate, the Treasury of Atreus (or Tomb of Agamemnon), and the ruins of the royal tombs.
After exploring Mycenae, you’ll head towards Nafplion, one of the most picturesque and romantic cities in Greece, with its rich history and unique architecture, which was the first capital of the modern Greek state. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the old town with its narrow streets, neoclassical buildings, and traditional squares. Then, you can take a walk in the harbor and enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants.
Your next stop is the famous Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, known for its exceptional acoustics and perfect preservation. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to walk around the site, learn about the history of the theater and the Asklepion of Epidaurus, and see up close the place where ancient dramatic performances took place.
It is the most perfect ancient Greek theatre regarding acoustics and aesthetics. Because of its exceptional architecture and aesthetics, the theatre was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988 along with the Temple of Asclepius.
Time for your return to Athens, full of images and pictures, feelings, and experiences!
